Message From The President: Melanie Nau – 3/14

I’m sending the president’s letter to you because there is some information that I think some of you may be looking for. I prepared this letter before I left for China on March 6. It was to be included in Paul’s newsletter, but his computer isn’t functioning as I write this, so I realize you never got my March 6 letter.
There are a couple of additional reminders that you might find useful.  Taro Kodama is coming to Texas next weekend to sell koi.  He will be at Dr. Nam’s in Manvel on Saturday, April 5, from 9 to 3.  I have posted his flier on our site
If you are still considering showing your pond for the Houston Pond Tour (either May 3 or 4), it is NOT too late.  We still need a few more to round out the tour.  Call Dan Cook at (713) 822-5515 before March 31 to sign up.  The rest of us left the Richard and Ardis Black home March 16 with tour posters to place in our respective neighborhoods.  We had a good planning meeting, in spite of the rain.  Many thanks to our hosts for their gracious welcome.
Also, Richard Black wanted everyone to know that there may be an issue with the show tanks that some of you purchased from the club (out of the storage shed.) Apparently, some of the fittings are not correct, and perhaps the plug might be the wrong size or missing. Before you trust it in an emergency, you might want to check that every part is as it should be.
Now is the time to register for our AKCA weekend Wet Lab June 28-29.   On our website you can print out the form to send off.  We are also committed for the Saturday evening Banquet at the Omni Houston, so check that box too.  Janet Orriss, Virginia Joiner and I are making menu decisions to please our Texas palate.  Thanks ladies.  And plan to bring your Nick Saint-Erne, DVM koi health book with you for his autograph! We are really financially committed to this event, and it is important that all of the members participate, so please sign up ASAP. Please call me or email me if you have questions.
See you soon- either at Nam’s April 5, Water Garden Gems April 11-12, or Andrew and Lisa’s April 20 (or all of the above.)  Put an hour or two at Nelson’s on your calendar for April 26 to drum up ticket sales for our Pond Tour.
ps. Karen and I got back from the China trip Saturday evening after a thrilling trip. Pictures to follow.
